The drama did take me about five episodes to really start warming up to it. This definitely isn’t the usual kind of historical I go for though as I tend to like more of the fusion sagueks while this is much more realistic with a very somber tone to it. This is one of those dramas where almost everyone is recognizable, and the amount of talent these actors have is through the roof. Then we’ve also got Jo Jung Suk and Han Ye Ri who are both excellent.Īnd not to leave out the amazing supporting cast. I’m always up for historicals, plus Yoon Shi Yoon is one of my favorite actors. Nokdu Flower was a pretty anticipated drama for me. She is calm and intelligent and becomes deeply involved with everything going on during the uprising. She is the daughter of the head of a large peddler group and carries out the business too. He is a kind, smart, and moral man who cares for his older brother and treats him nicely despite his status. He is Yi Kang’s younger brother and the legitimate son of the family. He carries out his father’s bidding though and has a reputation for being tough around town. He is the oldest son of the family, but since he is born of a slave, he doesn’t enjoy the same rights as a legitimate son. They also get involved with a peddler (Han Ye Ri) who gets in the middle of the conflict. I learned a lot about the medicinal aspects of various veggies, but even more interesting to me was Ron’s philosophy of eating, e.g., paying attention to your cravings, eating seasonally, and trying new foods even when you are unfamiliar with them. Also, the farmers themselves offered valuable info about the content, ripening and storage of their crop.Nokdu Flower is set in 1894 during the Donghak Peasant Uprising and follows the story of two brothers who end up on opposite sides of the conflict: one is the legitimate son (Yoon Shi Yoon) born of the father and his wife and the other (Jo Jung Suk) is born of the father and a slave. The veggie tour at the Wrightwood Farmers Market was most informative! It was the happening place last Friday. Great place for shopping, eating and now being entertained:). The market was amazing and there was lots of fresh produce, flowers, jarred goods, baked goods and I’m sure I’m missing all the other things that there were there. We are strong supporters of local farms and what they do to see our market turning into what a farmers market is and should be! We hadn’t been in a while and stopped in Friday evening since we made it home in time. It was so wonderful to see our Farmers Market come to life again this past week! I am so appreciative of the work that you, and Ron, are doing to make the market a place for community gatherings. I want to tell you that I have not had so much fun at this kind of venue since I started shopping at farmers markets in the last decade. It was wonderful to see you at the Farmers Market last Friday. Oh… and the funk, sass, and extra measure of “good edge”:) Thanks for the vision, the dedication & the hard work you are both putting in! Spent some time on the WW Farmer’s Market site last night and got SO excited for it today (that hasn’t happened since I moved here a year ago). It was a class act at The Wrightwood Farmers Market! Lastly, I sampled some Columbian coffee and it was the perfect cup so I bought a pound. There were so many awesome people from the Village that I got in a few hugs and on my way out the door I kissed all the pretty fresh flowers from “Flowers from the Forest.” It’s incredible! Then I bought a jar of Salsa which is one of the best Salsa’s I’ve had in awhile (fussy about my salsa). After that I bought two jars of Strawberry Balsamic jam, a palate paradise.Next I bought a whole pie size cauliflower quiche with an extravagant cheese (French maybe) a name I can’t even pronounce, but oh the taste, “out of this world”… So I went to the market and I bought Whole Life Soap, been using it now for a year and a half.
